Founded in 1987 by the Legalease publishing house (which includes the Legal Business, The In-house Lawyer and The Practical Law publications) it aims, like its competitor Chambers and Partners, to produce a realistic listing of the UK’s leading and best lawyers. The Legal 500 now reports on over 150 jurisdictions, and includes a UK Bar guide. This guidance focuses upon the UK Solicitor’s Guide.
The research carried out by The Legal 500 is based upon a standard submission form and referee spreadsheet. The research teams look for strength across the team but also consistency across the quality of individual fee earners.
